Yes, it happens regularly to most of us. Not only from NOTA, but also ATA and other professional associations. The more visibility you have on the Internet, the more they will target you... The best thing to do is to ignore them  

You learn to recognize them, but when in doubt feel free to ask one of the NOTA board members.
